ANTIQUE MONGOLIAN LILY CHEST
FEATURES: This is a very rare piece from Inner Mongolia. The Mongolian are nomads whose mobile culture makes antique furniture extremely rare. Here we have a magnificent chest not only is authentic Mongolian, but features the beautiful flower of lily. Lily in the Chinese and Mongolian culture symbolizes unity, peace and harmony. Since wild lilies can often be spotted thriving in gaps of rocks in harsh environments, its adaptability to various climates also became a symbol of strength and positive spirits. From the splendid colors used, the affectionate ways the lilies are depicted, we can conclude this was made for a special girl, for an important event, possibly to celebrate the birth of a tribal princess.
