A spectacular 19th century solid wood credenza from northern China. Mitered, tenon and mortise construction. Heavy, solid, large elm boards with beautiful wood grain. Extra wide, extravagant double framework with elegant, fluid trimming terminating in gentle scrolls. A bronze central medallion anchoring the chest, flanked by 2 pairs of bronze hinges, becomes the chest's focal point. Interior has one open compartment and a hidden one, the latter behind a sliding door. A bold, statement piece.
