A magnificent, extra long northern Chinese altar table. Over 7' long, the table is a masterpiece of old craftsmanship and balanced design. The rectangular top with tiered everted flanges, the edge of the frame moulding gently inwards, all supported on square legs cut to house the cloud shaped spandrelled apron, each pair of legs conjoined on the shorter side with a rectangular panel. A painted front with a pair of doors opening to full capacity interior storage provided by two shelves. Painted images of swords, citrons, vases, blooms and incense burners symbolize good fortune and prosperity.
