A hand painted antique Tibetan cabinet.
This large piece features hand painted "7 auspicious symbols" in the Tibetan culture. The main areas show umbrella shielded prayer wheels flanked by fish above unity symbols on top of peonies. Such a collection of lucky items symbolize prosperity and good fortune. A pair of carved dragons intercept the images, giving the eyes a break. The theme of good fortune continues with vase of peonies with conch and umbrella hanging above. The peonies are repeated on the last two drawer fronts.
Tibetan culture believes hand painted lucky symbols bring blessings and a good life.
