This exquisite crown is a bridal head dress from the Chinese Miao Tribe. Featuring a central medallion of a 5-layer peony, the crown is elaborately decorated with over 60 lilies. They symbolize marital bliss. Other important motifs are phoenixes, horses, and angels which are supposed to bring honor, success, good fortune and children. The dangling bells are a festive touch when the bride walks and dances as they make pleasant sounds with movement. Following the tradition of modesty, they also help to shield the bride's face.
The craftsmanship on this piece is superb. Such a fine piece is always passed down to the next generation. Mounted on iron stand, it makes a spectacular display.
