This is a rare, hand painted Tibetan chest that dates to early 19th century.
The chest features 3 panels of hand painted images showing scholars at leisure. From the remnants of the art, we can still see finely painted furniture, green plants, silver taels, rugs, prayer wheel, robes and etc. Four posts anchor the chest, giving the nod to Tibetan tradition. Elegant lines form the back which is decorated with hand painted garlands.
The middle door opens to reveal a large interior space for storage.
This is an all original, untouched piece with sound structure. It is stable and solid. All patinas original.
