Absolutely stunning, large Japanese tansu chest from the Meiji period. The Tansu is composed of a base and 3 separate chests including an unit with 4 large drawers, an unit with a drawer and 4 pull-out trays, and a top long unit with interior shelves and 3 smaller drawers in additional to 6 exterior drawers and sliding doors. All units have original iron handles for easy moving. The wood is astonishingly beautiful with exotic swirls and grains. Solid bronze, brass and ironware. This is a splendid piece that beyond functionality, is a room's focal point with its mesmerizing woods amazing the most discerning eye. Original maker's mark.
