A finely made gilt bronze reclining Buddha. Lying on his right side with flexed feet on double lotus throne, Buddha has Tang style broad face, very serene with closed eyes and long earlobes, neatly coiled hair mounted on top of his hair with ushinisa. Wearing a long soft robe that drapes over his body, open chest revealing the Buddhist symbol of longevity "Wan". This is a depiction of Buddha before entering nirvana, an ultimate symbol of peace and enlightenment.
