This massive cabinet is from Shan Xi province, China's ancient frontier and trade post. Commanding at over 5' wide with solid structure and bold features, this exceptional piece demonstrates all the trademarks of northern Chinese furniture. The front of the cabinet is decorated with flowers and Ru Yi patterns, celebrating joy and life's abundances. The protruding framework gives the nod to the region's historic heritage. Lines of Bamboo pattern and scallop edges represent the Yin Yang, soft and hard contrast in which Zen achieves harmony and balance. Deeply carved legs display a wave and scroll pattern, further enhancing the charm of the piece.
