This beautiful shrine resembles the real life temple in the 19th Century China. The decorated facade features gilded pheasants and Ru Yi shaped Lin Zhi, an herb that is believed to have the potency of preserving youth and life. The "drop pearl" accent on the facade echo the lotus posts. Such a design is favored in Northern China, particularly the Shan Xi province, where such life size architectural elements can still be found. Two carved panels with longevity lattice and a pair of delicately carved doors conceal the compartment where a statue would have been placed. All symbols found on the shrine express harmony and wish for good health and longevity. Rare. Solid wood.
