A rare offering of an original 19th century Chinese antique scholar's cabinet. This wonderful cabinet is constructed with single-board, matching rosewood door panels cut from the same timber, the tightly grained and whirling pattern shows rosewood at its best. This wood-hinged cabinet has four main stiles recessed from the corners of the top providing elegance and stability. The doors, with extended dowels on both ends, fit into sockets in the cabinet frame members and act as hinges, without interfering with the clean lines. The rectangular bronze plates with their lock receptacles and door pulls serve both practical and decorative function. Tri-tone finish highlights the beauty of the wood. Interior has a removable shelf, 2 drawers and a large secret compartment. An ingenious design realized by a master craftsman.
