Stone Buddha Samantabhadra Pu Xian Statue

A very unique, large hand carved solid stone Buddha Samantabhadra Pu Hsien (Xian) statue seated in lalita asana position. The broad face with benevolent countenance, downcast eyes framed by long-lobed ears and beneath gathered hair. Buddha wears a robe falling in gentle folds and opens at the chest revealing an elaborate necklace. She is backed by a flame-shaped mandorla symbolizing eradication of all evils. Pu Hsien (Xian) is the personification of love, virtue and patience. In the Chinese Pantheon she is one of the trios with Guan Yin (Compassion) and Wen-Zhu (Wisdom) whose qualities are the Buddha's Essence. This statue shows Pu Hsien on her traditional ride of elephant holding a wish-granting scepter. This heavy, solid stone sculpture is wonderful for both interior and exterior use.
