An antique Tibetan cast bronze figure depicting the revered Tibetan Buddhist scholar and saint, Je Tsongkhapa (1357–1419), the historic founder of the Gelug school. The countenance of this figure is notably expressive, radiating a sense of deep, scholarly focus and unwavering determination. The face is cast with distinct, masterful features, including pronounced, arched brows that suggest a contemplative yet penetrating intensity, framing eyes that appear locked in deep concentration. Seated on double lotus throne, he is clad in meticulously detailed monastic robes (sanghati) featuring finely incised geometric borders and floral scrollwork running along the hems. His right hand is in the teaching gesture (dharmachakra mudra), with the left hand holding a script. The statue is finely crafted, exemplifying high degree of devotion and iconographic characteristic of Himalayan religious bronzes.
