A beautiful gilt bronze, 4.6 lb, statue of Tibetan Bodhisattva Manjushree. Seated in vajrasana on a double lotus throne, in his right hand the sword of wisdom and his left hand in jnana mudra, gesture of teaching. Adorned with jewels and dressed in a dhoti with a long beaded belt extending on to his legs. The serene, smiling face, his half-closed eyes are surmounted by arched eyebrows. His hair is dressed in buns surrounded by a crown adorned with ribbons and pearls. Legend has it that he cuts water with the sword to divide the water resource to irrigate dry valleys. He is believed to have great power to remove evil and obstacles.
