Silver Bronze Guan Yin 7lb

A large 7.15 lb Republic era silver bronze statue of the Goddess of Compassion Guan Yin. Seated on lotus throne, Bodhisattva Avalokiteshvara is depicted in the most traditional fashion. The Tang style face is broad and serene, with downcast eyes above pursed lips and an urna between her brows. Hair neatly gathered into a chignon, anchored by a high decorative crown. Wearing a long hooded robe covering the head and gracefully wrapping her body. In her left hand a vase, in her right the willow branch, all symbolizing compassion and giving blessings. The base of the statue incised with peonies and scrolls, four Chinese characters convey the auspicious message of "Safety and Peace for all Family". A stamp on the bottom indicates the statue is made of the Qing Qian Long Period style.
