Young Smiling Buddha Bronze Statue

An unique bronze figure of Young Buddha Shakyamuni, with a wonderful smile and youthful visage. Seated in the full lotus position (padmasana) atop a double-lotus throne, Buddha is in the earth-touching gesture (bhumisparsha mudra), with his right hand reaching down to touch the ground and his left hand resting flat in his lap in a meditative position. His eyes are downcast in a serene gaze beneath elegantly arched brows, and a prominent urna (the third eye dot symbolizing spiritual insight) rests on his forehead. The face is framed by elongated earlobes and tightly curled hair that rises into a prominently pointed ushnisha finial. Wearing a finely chased sanghati that drapes fluidly over his left shoulder and torso. The bronze surfaces display a rich, dark historic patina, punctuated by natural, encrusted verdigris and oxidation within the deeper reliefs of the lotus petals and hair curls, reflecting its authentic age and ritual history.
